The following occasionally happens in The Cannes Film Festival : two directors end up getting a tie for the highly prized "Best Director" award. It's worth pointing out that this was the South Korean director's 98rd movie, whereas the movie that won the prize was only the 31-year old American director's 4th one.

- Best Actress : Kati Outinen, "THE MAN WITHOUT A PAST" (Finland) by Aki Kaurismäki.

- Best Actor : Olivier Gourmet, "LE FILS" by Luc & Jean-Pierre Dardenne (Belgium)

- Best Screenplay : Paul Laverty, "SWEET SIXTEEN" by Ken Loach (UK/Germany)

- 55th Anniversary Prize: "BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE" by Michael Moore (USA)

- Best First Film (Camera d'Or) : "BORD DE MER" by Julie Lopes-Curval (France)

- Jury Prize for the Best Short : "A VERY VERY SILENT FILM " by Manish Jha (India)
